Couples Counseling

Hello, I’m Dr. Faye Lennon

I’m a Clinical Psychologist and Imago Relationship Therapist with over thirty years of experience supporting individuals and couples through a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges.

Throughout my career, I have seen how easily even strong relationships can become strained by miscommunication, unresolved hurts, competing demands, and the pressures of everyday life. Couples often arrive feeling disconnected from one another, frustrated by recurring patterns, or unsure how to bridge the growing distance between them.

My work is dedicated to helping couples understand what is happening beneath those patterns. Rather than focusing on blame, I help partners develop greater insight into their relationship dynamic, strengthen communication, and create opportunities for meaningful emotional connection.

As a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, I use evidence-based approaches that encourage both partners to feel heard, understood, and respected. Together, we explore the experiences, beliefs, and reactions that may be contributing to conflict while building practical skills that support healthier interactions moving forward.

While challenges such as anxiety, trauma, stress, and major life transitions can affect a relationship, my focus in couples counseling is helping partners work together more effectively and create a stronger foundation for the future.

I believe that relationships can grow and heal when both people are given the tools, support, and space to better understand one another. My goal is to provide a balanced, supportive environment where lasting change becomes possible and where couples can move toward a deeper sense of connection and partnership.

Helping couples move from conflict to understanding

Couples counseling provides a structured space where partners can slow down difficult conversations, feel heard, and begin to understand what is happening beneath emotional distance.
In sessions with Dr. Faye Lennon, couples are guided through a structured process that supports active listening, reflecting each other’s perspective, and identifying the underlying emotions driving reactions and conflict.

Work is often focused on:

The goal is not to decide who is right or wrong, but to help both partners feel understood and to rebuild a more respectful and connected way of communicating.
If this sounds like the kind of support your relationship could benefit from, you’re in the right place.

Frequently Asked Questions About Couples Counseling

Many couples feel unsure about what to expect from therapy or whether it's the right step for their relationship. Here are answers to some common questions.

Couples seek counseling for many different reasons. Some are struggling with frequent arguments or communication difficulties, while others feel disconnected, lonely, or stuck in patterns that never seem to change.

Many couples worry that therapy will become another argument. My role is to help create a different kind of conversation. Using a structured approach based on Imago Relationship Therapy, I guide couples through a process that helps each partner slow down, listen more carefully, and feel heard. The goal is to create greater understanding and connection, even when discussing difficult topics.

This is one of the most common reasons couples come to therapy. When emotions are running high, it can be difficult to truly hear one another. The process I use helps couples move away from reactive patterns and create more productive conversations. You do not need to know how to communicate perfectly before starting counseling.

No. My role is not to decide who is right or wrong. Instead, I work to create a balanced and respectful space where both partners feel heard and understood. Often, meaningful change begins when couples develop a deeper understanding of each other’s experiences, even when they do not fully agree.

There is no fixed number of sessions because every couple is different. Some couples come for support around a specific issue and find that a relatively short period of counseling is helpful. Others choose to spend more time working through longstanding patterns within their relationship. Together, we will determine a pace and approach that feels appropriate for your goals and circumstances.

It helps when both partners are willing to engage in the process, but many couples begin counseling feeling uncertain, frustrated, or unsure about the future of their relationship. You do not need to have everything figured out before seeking support. Therapy can provide a space to explore concerns, improve understanding, and gain greater clarity about what comes next.

Yes. Not every couple comes to therapy knowing exactly what they want for the future. Some are hoping to strengthen and rebuild their relationship, while others are unsure whether they wish to remain together. Counseling can help couples explore these questions thoughtfully and respectfully. When separation is the right path, therapy can also support a more constructive transition, particularly when children are involved.

Yes. Premarital counseling can help couples build a stronger foundation before marriage. It provides an opportunity to explore communication styles, expectations, values, future goals, and potential areas of conflict before they become larger challenges within the relationship.

I work with married couples, dating couples, engaged couples, long-term partners, same-sex couples, LGBTQ+ couples, and interfaith couples. Every relationship is unique, and counseling is tailored to the specific needs, experiences, and goals of the couple sitting in front of me.
