Roslyn Couples Counseling

Hello, I’m Dr. Faye Lennon

I’m a Clinical Psychologist and Certified Imago Relationship Therapist with more than three decades of experience counseling individuals and couples in Roslyn through a wide range of personal, emotional, and relational challenges.

Throughout my career, I’ve seen how even close, committed relationships can become strained by miscommunication, unresolved conflicts, and the ongoing pressures of daily life. Many couples come to therapy feeling disconnected, stuck in repeating cycles, or uncertain about how to close the distance that has developed between them.

My work is focused on helping couples understand what lies beneath these patterns. Rather than placing blame, I guide partners toward greater awareness of their relationship dynamic, helping them strengthen communication and reconnect on a deeper emotional level.

As an Imago Relationship Therapist, I use a structured, evidence-based approach designed to help both partners feel heard, understood, and respected. Together, we explore the underlying experiences and emotional responses that may be contributing to conflict, while building practical tools to support healthier, more supportive interactions.

While issues such as stress, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions can place strain on a relationship, my focus in couples counseling is on helping partners learn to work effectively together towards creating a stronger, more stable foundation for the future.

I believe that relationships can heal and evolve when couples are given the space and support to truly understand one another. My goal is to provide a calm, thoughtful environment here in Roslyn where meaningful change can happen, and where couples can develop a lasting sense of connection and partnership.

Frequently Asked Questions About Couples Counseling

Many couples wonder what to expect from the counseling process. Here are some of the most common questions couples have before beginning therapy.

Couples seek counseling for many different reasons. Some are struggling with repeated arguments or communication breakdowns, while others feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or uncertain about how to improve their relationship.

It is common for couples to worry that therapy will lead to more conflict. My goal is to create a different type of conversation where both partners feel supported and understood. Using a structured process based on Imago Relationship Therapy, I help couples slow down, listen carefully, and explore the emotions and experiences behind their reactions. This creates space for greater connection and understanding.

Difficulty communicating is a common challenge for many couples. When frustration builds, conversations can quickly become reactive instead of productive. The approach I use helps couples identify these patterns and learn new ways of responding to one another. You do not need to be an expert communicator to begin counseling.

No. My role is not to choose one person’s perspective over the other. I provide a neutral, respectful space where both partners can share their experiences and feel understood. Couples often begin to reconnect when they can see each other’s viewpoints with greater compassion and clarity.

Every couple’s journey is different, so there is no predetermined number of sessions required. Some couples come to counseling for support with a specific issue, while others choose to explore more longstanding relationship patterns. Together, we will find an approach that fits your goals and the needs of your relationship.

While it helps when both partners are willing to engage, many couples begin counseling feeling uncertain or hesitant about the future. Therapy offers a space to explore concerns, understand each other more clearly, and consider what steps feel right moving forward.

Yes. Some couples come to counseling hoping to repair and strengthen their relationship, while others are unsure whether they want to continue together. Therapy can help couples explore these questions in a thoughtful and respectful way. If separation is the path forward, counseling can also support healthier communication and more constructive transitions, particularly for couples with children.

Yes. Premarital counseling gives couples the opportunity to strengthen their relationship before marriage. Sessions can focus on communication, expectations, shared values, future goals, and potential areas of disagreement, helping couples develop a stronger understanding of one another.

I work with married couples, dating couples, engaged couples, long-term partners, LGBTQ+ couples, same-sex couples, and interfaith couples. Every relationship is different, and counseling is adapted to reflect the experiences, challenges, and goals of each couple I work with in Roslyn.
